Delete your account
Last updated: August 27, 2026
You can delete your VinylSonar account and the data attached to it at any time. Deletion is permanent — there is no undo and no recovery window, so please read what is removed before you start.
Option 1 — in the app (fastest)
- Open VinylSonar and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
Your account and data are removed immediately. You are signed out and the account can no longer be used to sign in.
Option 2 — request it without the app
If you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address on the account, with the subject Account deletion request.
We will verify that the request comes from the account holder and complete the deletion within 30 days, normally much sooner. We will confirm by email once it is done.
Delete only some of your data
You do not have to close your account to remove things. From inside the app you can delete, at any time and without affecting anything else:
- Your profile photo — Profile → Remove photo
- Your location — Profile → remove location, which also stops your listings showing a distance to other collectors
- Any record in your collection, along with the photos attached to it
- Any marketplace listing you have posted, along with its photos
- Your wishlist alerts and the artists you follow
For anything not covered above, email [email protected] describing what you would like removed. We respond within 30 days and will tell you if anything has to be kept, and why.
What is deleted
Everything belonging to your account, including:
- Your profile — display name, avatar, bio, location, store details, phone and email
- Your sign-in credentials, so the account can no longer be used to log in
- Your collection and its value history, wishlist alerts, followed artists
- Your marketplace listings, deals, and every photo you uploaded
- Your messages, chat-room posts and reactions, and your conversations
- Ratings and reviews you wrote, people you follow, users you blocked
- Reports you filed, referral invitations you sent, and any referral credit
- Notifications, and all of your files in our image storage
What is kept, and why
Two narrow exceptions. Both exist because the data is about somebody else as much as it is about you, and erasing it on one person's request would erase the other person's record.
| Reports other people filed about you | Moderation history about conduct towards other users. If deleting an account erased it, anyone could clear their record by deleting and signing up again. |
| Sales where you were the buyer | The sale record is the seller's trading history and their sold-price record. It is kept with your identity removed — the buyer field is cleared, so the row no longer points at you. |
We may also retain records where the law requires it, such as transaction records needed for tax or accounting, for as long as that obligation lasts.
